The museum park Print E-mail

The museum consists of a large museum park with old tracks, railway stations, locomotives and carriage sheds. Climb onboard everyone's favourite "Dovregubben", and imagine what it was like to work on Norway's most powerful steam locomotive.  In the park, the narrow gauge train will be in operation, as well as the passenger-carrying garden train.

Four station buildings can be explored – all dating back to the earliest days of railway history and furnished as they were when in use. Here you'll find the royal carriage used by the royal family when travelling to the coronation in the Nidaros Cathedral in 1906.

The large, beautiful museum park with vast expanses of grasslands encourages children to invent their own fun and games. The hens will be clucking at Sonsveien sections mans house, and with Lake Mjøsa as our closest neighbour, it may be tempting to take a refreshing swim in the lake during warm summer days.

The park is open to the public all year round. Paths in the museum park will be cleared of snow, but buildings and railway locomotive and carriage sheds will not be open. They are open during the summer season (June - September).
