The library is a theme-based library covering Norwegian railway history and culture. The library is open to the general public.

Large parts of the collections have been entered in our database. Our database is available in Norwegian only. Instructions, terms and search results will thus be displayed in Norwegian.

The library offers the following:

• Reading and study area
• Sit down in a good chair and spend some time reading the many magazines
• Conduct a search in the library’s collection from a special computer with links to other relevant databases/sources. Our database is available in Norwegian only. Instructions, terms and search results will thus be displayed in Norwegian.
• Conduct a search in the museum’s collections for items and photographs. Relax and watch a railway video
• Take advantage of our copying facilities
• ..... and enjoy a cup of coffee/tea

The Norwegian railway history collection
The collection consists of documents about the following: railway history, railway tracks, railway stations, architecture, rolling stock, construction activity, railway employees, etc. The collection includes the following:

• Railway magazines/newspapers
• Yearbooks
• Annual reports
• Publications of and about NSB ( Norwegian State Railways) and the Norwegian National Rail Administration
• Statistics and financial reports
• Government committees dealing with railway issues
• Timetables and schedules
• Interviews and information about railroad workers/NSB-employees
• Newspaper cuttings
• Brochures
• Drawings

The magazine collection covers

• subscriptions to approx. 100 magazines relating to railway and museum activities
• collection of older Norwegian and foreign railway magazines.
